Thanks,

Recording NTI Work Assignments and Participation for January 19, 2023
Good morning,
Once again, like on the 16th, as part of our NTI processes, we must record which students completed NTI work AND provide a sample of one student’s work in each room.
To help with this, please use your HOMEROOM ONLY, and complete the purple columns C at the link below. You only need to record if a student did any work at all during the NTI period and turned it in to you by 4 PM on 1/26. The red row is a sample. (Let’s say I teach fifth grade math, and I have 24 kids in my homeroom. Twenty did my math assignment, so 20 out of 24.)

Upload ONE student work sample into the NTI part of our shared drive at the link below. One student work sample can be a scan of something a kid did on paper, a google Classroom assignment that has been turned in, etc. (Using my example again, I might upload a Eureka Math work page one kid turned in via Google classroom.)

If you need help with any of this, let Brittany, Michelle, or I know. We can help. Also, unless you are already at 100% completion, you may need to wait until after the five school days have passed (until January 26) to complete this. --Josh

Good morning,
As part of our NTI processes, we must record which students completed NTI work AND provide a sample of one student’s work in each room.
To help with this, please use your HOMEROOM ONLY, and complete columns C, D, and E at the link below. NTI Day, 1/16/2024
BES Staff:
Tomorrow is a Non-Traditional Instruction Day - Students will work on their NTI assignments at home, and staff will come into work. Student work will be done largely via Google Classroom (though I know some educators sent some things home last week, too).
Students have FIVE school days to complete NTI work, and we will need to document how many students participate. We will also have to upload a work sample on what has been assigned. (More to come on that.)
Tomorrow, 1/16/2024, you should plan to report to work by 10 AM. If road conditions are too poor to report to work, Dr.
Clark will let us know. I will keep you updated as he updates me.
Plan to be available to students and families tomorrow via school phone, email, DoJo, Google Meet, etc. Also, the following could be possible things that could be done during our day:
- Therapists: Virtual ARC meetings, meetings with students via Google Meet, catch up on report writing, IEP writing, meeting scheduling, and Medicaid billing
- Teachers: Oversee Google Classroom work, respond to parent messages, work on RTI documentation. Other things that you might do: planning, PLCs
- Assistants: REQUIRED: online learning of one module at this link provided by Lance Boston: NTI Options for ECE Assistants; complete tasks that the teacher has given you (cutting, creating, researching ideas for activities, etc.), catch up on Medicaid billing
- Office Staff: Check e-mail and return messages (both e-mail and phone).

Housekeeping
Please make sure your students stack your chairs in a corner of your room at the end of each day. This allows housekeeping to wipe down desks during cold and flu season as well as sweep.
Thank you!

NTI/School Cancellations/Bad Weather
As we move into winter, I wanted to remind you of what happens on days that school is CANCELED due to inclement weather.
If school is canceled due to inclement weather, BCS will announce what type of day it is. Options include:
- Snow Day - All students and staff are out of school with no obligations on this day. This day will be made up later in the year.
- Non-Traditional Instructional Day - Students will work on their NTI assignments at home, and staff will come into work..
I typically know about school closures before the general public. If that's the case, I will send a Remind message to let you know as soon as I know. Please keep that information under your hat until the official district post/announcement is released. The district notifies parents within about 15 minutes of staff knowing. You are welcome to repost the Bardstown City Schools message on your own social media, but you should never create one yourself. We want everyone to get the same message.
You should plan to report to work by 8:45 AM even when we are canceled for bad weather. If road conditions are too poor to report to work, Dr. Clark will allow you to work from home. I will always let you know the expectation, but know that you will be working on NTI days.
If it is an NTI day and we are unable to come into work, here are possible things that you MIGHT do...
- Therapists: Virtual ARC meetings, meetings with students via Google Meet, catch up on report writing, IEP writing, meeting scheduling, and Medicaid billing
- Teachers: Oversee Google Classroom work, respond to parent messages, work on RTI documentation. Other things that you might do: planning, PLCs via Google Meet
- Assistants: Catch up on Medicaid billing, online learning (a link will always be provided), complete tasks that the teacher has given you (cutting, creating, researching ideas for activities, etc.)
- Office Staff: Check e-mail and return messages (both e-mail and phone). Take work home that can be completed on the computer if we suspect the weather may be poor in advance.
Hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions, please see me, Josh. Thanks!
Thoughts & Prayers
Please keep Catherine Jean-Baptiste and Cash in your thoughts and prayers. Cash's mother has had a stroke. Catherine and Cash are in Florida looking after her and making plans for after care.

IC Messenger Test for Weather - From Our Communications Dept.
To ensure our families and employees are prepared for the possibility of school cancellations due to inclement weather, we will be conducting a communication test on Jan. 7 at 4:30 p.m. Below you’ll find a copy of the message you can share with your staff. I’ll be informing the school secretaries later today. Please make mention of this communication test at your faculty/department meetings. That way employees know to be on alert for this message and will know to reach out to us if they do not receive the message.
We’ll be alerting our families through social media, website, and take home flyers for preschool – 5th grade.
MESSAGE FOR STAFF/FAMILIES
In anticipation of potential winter weather delays and cancellations, BCS will conduct a test of its Emergency Alert System on Tuesday, January 7 at 4:30 pm. A TEST phone call and text message will be sent to all families and employees who have phone numbers listed in Infinite Campus. Your information must be accurate inside of Infinite Campus Parent Portal to receive these messages.
For those who receive the test messages, no action will be needed other than saving the numbers as "BCS" for future use. Those who do not receive the messages are asked to contact your school secretary.
