BUS ACCIDENT

Minor Accident

Dear Parents/Guardians:

This afternoon Bus #12 was involved in a minor accident on Camptown Road  which required it to stop briefly. There was minor damage to a pedestrian vehicle and the bus. We called each family this afternoon that had a student on the bus but wanted to send this message as an additional communication. As always, please feel free to contact the BCS Transportation Department with any further questions at 1-502-331-8806.

One School/One Book

We are excited to announce that BES will be doing a One Book One school read this spring. We need your help deciding on a book that our WHOLE school will read together. Over the course of the month of March, BES will do a variety of activities at school to promote interest and discussion of the book. The ILT Reading team has narrowed down our choices to three books and now we need your input on which book you would like to read. PLEASE VOTE!

Yellow Hang Tag

There is a yellow, plastic, car hang tag in your mailbox. This will hopefully help me (Josh) help you merge for parking in the morning. It might also let parents and other know to let you in as it says EMPLOYEE on it in big and bold letters. There are no numbers on it, but if you could display it to help me help you merge, I would be grateful.

Well-Wishes

Tomorrow, 8-25-2023, is Terrell and Rene's last day with us. Both are moving on to other jobs in similar fields where their caring hearts will be put to use. Please wish them both well. We will miss their smiles and positivity here at BES. They have both been great assistants for us!

We will be conducting interviews to fill their roles in the coming days.

Wellness Policy adHoc

Volunteers are needed for an adHoc committee to review and revise our school's SBDM Wellness Policies. Our current policy has not been reviewed since 2013 and is linked HERE.

If you are interested in serving on this committee, please reach out to me, Josh. We should not need to meet but once or twice at most. Thanks!

Schedule

Good morning! If you have not shared your daily schedule with Brittany yet, can you please do so? We are missing a number of classroom schedules.

Heat Wave

With the impending heat wave, I wanted to reach out and discuss the week ahead.

1-please take care of yourself and hydrate. Remember, we have ice in the concession stand. Also, feel free to wear Bardstown Tshirts and shorts all week if you’d like.

2-make sure kids hydrate. Please allow them to drink water as needed, and remind them to bring water bottles.

3-if the heat index is over 95°, please do not go outside for recess. This is universal across BES, BPS, and BECEC. Feel free to get out of your room and use the social stairs or cafeteria for recess space if you need a change of pace (before or after lunch for the latter). I know it’s going to be a long week.

I will also brainstorm other ways to keep us all cool. Please let me know if you have any questions.

The Nutcracker Comes to Us December 15

Save the Date!

We will host the Allegro Dance Company on December 15th at 9:30 AM.

They will be performing “Nutcracker on the Road.”

The dancers will demonstrate professional ballet training required for ballet dancers, tell the story of The Nutcracker using some of our own students, and then dance Act II of The Nutcracker for our school.

This is a wonderful opportunity to incorporate some cross curricular learning!

We are so excited about this opportunity

Lunch Numbers

Cafe staff are asking we use lunch numbers as soon as possible.

Rosters are in your mailbox with lunch numbers. If your students know their numbers, they can use them today. (3, 4, and 5). If they do not, or if it is easier, you may use the main roster, black out kid names that brought a sack lunch or are absent, and turn one roster in for your class.

Thank you for all you are doing right now!
