Playground Partners

Recess brings all kinds of fun opportunities. Please see the note below from M. Kyser (and C. Harris) on how we can be good friends and good stewards of our playground. I loved this and thought it was worth sharing. - JOSH

Caitlyn Harris's class and mine had recess together last spring as all of the new equipment was installed. We had a few discussions about how to make sure the adaptive equipment was kept in good working condition and making sure that it was available to kids who might need the adaptive equipment as a priority. We're so glad the whole playground is together, instead of two separate entities, as it was at the former BES building.

We took some pictures of our classes playing together and put together a quick slideshow. We thought this could be useful for our building so there are some common expectations across all grade-levels. See if you think it could be helpful.

Thanks,

Melissa

Professional Development Plan

Greetings!

I learned TODAY more about the district's plan for our August 1 Opening Gold Day, and I wanted to share that with you all ASAP. I also wanted to give you an overview of the PD plan for the coming weeks. Please let me know if you have any other questions after reading this.

Our first time together will be the a la carte PD day on July 27. It goes from 8:30AM - 3:15PM. Michelle Spalding shared out the schedule, but if you would like another copy, it is linked HERE. (If you went to OG training, you do not need to attend this day.)

Our second day together is July 31 Opening Day. From 8:30-11:30 AM, we will do our HR opening items (blood borne pathogens, child abuse reporting, etc.) and our BES housekeeping items. We will then break for lunch on your own and return for iReady training from 1-3 PM. Everyone needs to attend this day.

Our third day together is our district opening day and our open house on August 1. We will all be together as a district in our building. Breakfast goes from 8-9 AM and is being catered. Dr. Clark will introduce new staff and speak with us until approximately 10:45 AM. We will then break and not come back together until 3:15 PM in our individual classrooms. (Open house looks like this: 2nd Grade: 3:30-4:15 PM/3rd Grade: 4:30-5:15 PM/4th Grade: 5:30-6:15 PM/5th Grade: 6:30-7:15PM). If you have a kindergarten student, please see me, Josh, and we will figure out a way to get you to the Primary School for your time slot there. This is a Gold Day, and we all must work this day.

Lastly, if you went to OG training, know we have not forgotten you. We have a Gold Day January 2. You are exempt from JANUARY 2. I will work with your team as well if there are other hours that you are owed, too! Do not fret!

Lastly, the PD schedule I sent home is linked on the right. If you want another copy, or a color copy, it is there.

I hope this helps clarify everything. Let me know what else you might need. I am VERY excited to work with you. -Josh

PS - If you have not made this blog your homepage yet, you may want to. I will try to put everything important that we all need here in a one-stop shop.
